 | Cyathea medullaris - Black Tree Fern -
The Black Tree fern is one of the most beautiful ferns available for cool and coastal gardens. It comes from New Zealand and lends an otherworldly feeling to any garden.
When young, the fronds resemble the more common Australian tree fern but as the plant matures, the fronds turn a beautiful charcoal black color. This is a must for every garden with a tropical feel to it. The plant is very adaptable to Southern England and the San Francisco bay area on down coastal southern California.
Hot drying winds are not recommended as they will kill this one very quickly.
The 5 gallon pots are available for shipping in spring and fall. The 15 gallon plants are available for pick up only when prepaid. They can be shipped but they will be cut down to the crown with all leaves and the majority of the roots removed.
One gallon pots should be ready by mid to late 2007. Five gallons are currently out of stock but feel free to email me so that I can get an idea of how many are wanted. john@floralarchitecture.com
